BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

I was born on a snowy December day in Lynchburg, Virginia.  Snow days are my absolute favorite!  God blessee me with two amazing parents and one younger sister.  I accepted Jesus as my presonal Savior during revival at Bethel Baptist Church at the age of fifteen.  My family and I live in Amherst where I have lived my entire life.  I am actively involved in my church with the children’s ministries and serve on several different committees.  I earned a B.A. Debree in Early Education from Lynchburg College, and my heart is teaching!

LIFE VERSE

My life verse is Philippians 4:13 ” I can do all things through Christ which stregthened me.”

EXPERIENCE

I have twenty-six years of teaching experience.  I taught for four years of fourth grade at Amelon Elementary School.  I was then blessed with the opportunity to teach at Temple. I continued teaching fourth grade for two additional years after coming to TCS and then I taught first grade for twenty years. I stepped away from the classroom for a year due to the declining health of my sweet husband.  During this journey, I was given the opportunity to work at Houston Baptist University serving college students, and then I spent six months as Deputy Clerk for the Amherst County Clerk’s Office.  God has allowed me the opportunity to come back HOME to Temple Christian School to teach the precious frist graders that He has chosen for me this year.

FAMILY

My husband and I were high school sweethearts and were blessed with 30 years of wonderful marriage until God called him home on March 11 of 2021.  The girls and I were by his side and are thankful for the reassurance that we will be with Kevin again one day. We have three beautiful daughters and five precious grandchildren! Hailey and her husband live in Amherst with their two sweet children Ryland and Adaline.  Morgan and her husband live in Concord with their adorable sons Levi, Lucas and Laine.  Madison is out sweet baby girl who will be a sophomore at Liberty University.  I am on blessed Mon and Grammy!

HOBBIES

I enjoy reading, cooking, shopping and most importantly spending time with my family and making cherished memories.  My grandchildren bring such joy to my life, and we enjoy fun adventures together.

WHAT I ENJOY MOST ABOUT TEACHING

Teaching is my heart! I love children, and I want to imspire my students to have a love for learning and to enourage them to try new and exciting things and give them a solid Christian foundation to build on.  I believe in providing my children with a happy, safe, and supportive learning encironment.  A HAPPY child is a SUCCESSFUL child! It’s an honor to be a part of the Temple Family.
