TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been working with children since the age of 13. After graduatin from college, I began working at Temple in daycare. I worked as a teacher’s aide in K-4 and K-5 at Temple Christian School. I became a mother of 2 beautiful boys, Will and Forrest. I was a stay-at-home Mom until Will entered kindergarten. I returned to Temple and worked as a teacher’s aide in K-5. I then taught two exciting and unforgettable years in K-3. I taught second grade for 6 years. I taugh Art and Library for three years. I enjoyed teaching first grade for one year. I am happy and thankful to be able to be teaching second grade for a thrid year!  It is an answer to prayer because it was one of my favorite grades to teach! I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Liberty University, and an associate degree in early childhood development. I have pursued my master’s degree in Elementary Education at LU.  This is my 19th year at Temple.

I have been married for 29 years to my husband, Todd.  We have two young fellas, Will and Forrest. Will graduated from Temple in 2020 and is attending LU to become a teacher. Forrest graduated from Temple in May 2022. Forrest is a sophomore at LU and is pursuing a History degree.

I love spending time at home with my husband and sons, and enjoy spending time with my parents at their lake house. I love painting, decorating, and reading. I enjoy singing in choir at church. I also love participating in the ministry of the Gideons as a prayer partner with my father.

INTERESTING FACTS

I traveled to Puerto Rico when I was 15 on a missions trip with my church. It was a very exciting and memorable trip.  I also had my own painting business at the Lynchburg Community Market for two years. I painted my classroom walls at TCS.  I have also painted numerour Bible verses for teachers at TCS in their classrooms. I worked as a dental assistant for two years which influenced me to become a teacher. The children were my favorite part of the job and interacting with them always made me smile.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT TEACHING

I like seeing the precious children’s faces when they learn something new. I like incorporating creativity into all aspects of teaching and learning. I am so thankful and excited that the Lord has brough me to Temple to teach. I love watching the children grow leaps and bounds in the classroom throughout the year.  It is a blessing to watch my past students continue to grow in their faith and spread their wings in the world.
