November 2019 Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

Fall is officially in full swing!  I hope you’re looking forward to all the events and activities that come with it!  One of the events is the flu!!!!  Please help us with this.  If your child has a fever over 99.5 degrees, has a severe cough or drainage, or has thrown up, he/she may NOT return to school for a minimum of 24 hours.  In a classroom setting, we simply cannot afford to expose all students in the class to an illness that your child might have.  I’m sure you appreciate that from other parents as well!

Please remember to check the hotline!  I try to keep it updated every day or every other day to let you know about weather decisions, school events, dates, DRESS DOWN DAYS, etc.

Hopefully, as you examine your child’s grades for the first quarter there will be no surprises.  With our Monday folders, agendas, progress reports, and now RENWEB, we’ve tried to keep you updated about your child’s progress.  At this point in the school year, we want you to be well informed if your child is struggling academically.  Now is the time to get help.  Also, now is the time to make adjustments if necessary (i.e., moving from 2nd grade back to 1st grade, etc.)  I know that may seem frightening, but trust me when I say it may be in the best interest of your child.  If he/she is failing core subjects such as phonics and math, the first quarter has been somewhat of a review and will only get more difficult as the year progresses.  A student who fails these two subjects for the year will not be promoted here at Temple Christian School.  Let’s get help now if we need it!!!

The fall re-take picture day is Tuesday, November .  If your child was absent on picture day, or if they had their pictures taken and you weren’t happy with how they turned out, they can have them re-done.  Students will need to be in regular school dress. Also, this is senior picture day!

The  K5 classes will be presenting their annual Thanksgiving program on November 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the church auditorium.

The ODACS Band and Choir Festival is  scheduled for Thursday and Friday, November 21 and 22.  Mrs. Crowder will give you all the pertinent information about this event!

Thank you so much for your help with the fall fundraiser!   It looks like we made a little over $16,000!  We have decided to invest them money in a project that will benefit our students as well as you, their parents!  We are going to construct a covered shelter in the wooded area near the cross that the students/teachers can use for special parties, lunches, or just to do a lesson outside on pretty days.  Not only that, we want you and your family to feel free to come and use it if you like!

Thanksgiving break will be Monday through Friday, November 25-29.  Enjoy the time with family and friends!  Speaking of being thankful, let me say that I’m very thankful for you and your children, and for your confidence in us here at Temple Christian School!    Enjoy November!
